What's included at every size
- The modpack installer: pick a pack when you order and we set it up.
- Automatic daily backups, plus your own backups any time from the panel, and a one-click restore. Restores are free.
- A permanent address:
yourserver.play.packyard.ca. - Every server sits behind our DDoS-filtered network.
- Your full RAM is reserved for you whenever your server is running.
No feature is locked to a bigger plan. The only thing a bigger size adds is RAM.
How to keep it cheap
- Pick the smallest size that fits your group. The RAM calculator gives an estimate from your pack and player count.
- For vanilla with a few friends, Paper at 3 GB ($5/month) is our pick.
- For modded, plan on 4–5 GB: about 4 GB for a light mod list, 5 GB for most of our modpacks.
Cheap vs free
Free hosts are a fine way to start. Many stop your server when nobody is online, so someone has to start it again before friends can join, and some make you wait in a queue. Ours keeps running until you stop it, at the same address. Moving over? Here's how to move your Aternos world, and our take on whether Aternos is safe.
