Start with 6 GB
Cobblemon is set to 6 GB on our servers for 2–5 players.
6 GB is sold out right now.
How this works
For packs we host, the starting size is the one we set on our own servers for that pack. For other packs, it's the size most pack listings and public server guides recommend for a small group, checked October 2026. For bigger groups we add about 1 GB for every 3 extra players, a common rule of thumb for modded servers, so those sizes are estimates.
- FTB StoneBlock 3 pack page (4 GB minimum, 6 GB recommended)
- docker-minecraft-server docs: GTNH
- DawnCraft CurseForge page (pack author: 6 GB minimum, 8–12 GB recommended, client)

FAQ
How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?
For vanilla or Paper with a few friends, 3 GB is a good start. Modpacks need more: most 1.18+ packs start at 5–6 GB, and big kitchen-sink packs at 8–10 GB.
How much RAM per player?
As a rule of thumb, about 1 GB for every 3 extra players on modded servers. Heavy packs like GTNH need more late game.
Does more RAM fix lag?
Only if you're actually out of memory. Most modded lag comes from the main thread, which depends on CPU, world generation and machines.
Is 4 GB enough for a modpack?
For light or older packs with 2–3 players, often yes. For most newer packs, start at 5–6 GB.
